1. Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains how Maiguard Sentinel Limited (trading as MaiGuard), a registered subsidiary of Lyrisoft Technologies Limited, uses cookies and similar technologies when you use our public websites and web properties (for example maiguard.com and related marketing or documentation pages) (together, the “Sites”).
It is intended for website visitors, prospects, and others who browse or interact with the Sites. If you use the MaiGuard cloud platform (API, dashboard, or tenant portal) as a business customer, additional authentication, security, and session technologies may apply; those are described at a high level here and in more detail in your Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and product documentation.
This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a site. They are widely used to make sites work, work more efficiently, or provide information to site operators.
We also use similar technologies, such as local storage, session storage, pixels, or software development kits, that can store or read identifiers or preferences on your device for similar purposes.
Cookies may be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a partner or vendor whose technology we embed, such as analytics providers).
3. How long cookies last
- Session cookies expire when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain for a set period (for example, days or months) unless you delete them earlier.
Typical maximum durations for tools we use are summarised in Section 5.
4. Categories of use
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the Sites to function—for example security, load balancing, remembering privacy or consent choices where we implement them, or maintaining your session in parts of the product that require login. |
| Preferences | Remember settings you choose (such as language or display options) to improve your experience. |
| Analytics | Help us understand how the Sites are used (for example pages viewed, approximate region, and device type) so we can improve content and performance. We use aggregate or pseudonymous data where possible. |
| Marketing | Only where we use advertising or campaign measurement technologies and where permitted by law; we aim to rely on consent or equivalent permissions where required. |
5. Technologies we use on the Sites
The exact names of cookies or storage keys can change when we update the Sites. Below is a representative description of what we use today or may use as we improve the service.
5.1 First-party and local storage
- Language and preferences: We may store your language or similar preferences using browser local storage (and, depending on configuration, cookies) so the Sites can load in your chosen locale.
- Theme or UI state: Some interface elements may remember your choices using local storage or cookies where needed for usability.
- Security and operations: We may set cookies or use tokens as part of protecting the Sites against abuse, maintaining sessions for authenticated areas, or debugging in line with our security practices.
5.2 Google Analytics (analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect information about how visitors use the Sites—for example pages visited, general location (derived from IP), browser, and interactions. Google may set cookies such as _ga or _gid (names may vary) and process data as described in Google’s documentation.
Our measurement ID is G-VDTX0KXGYW. Page views are sent from our application in line with our analytics configuration.
For more on how Google uses data, see Google’s Privacy & Terms. You can install a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics where available, or adjust cookies in your browser (Section 6).
5.3 Other third parties
We may embed content or scripts from other providers (for example fonts, video, or future marketing tools). Those providers may set their own cookies or read their own storage. We will update this Policy or our consent tools when we add material new tracking technologies.
6. Your choices and control
- Browser settings: Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Sites may not work correctly.
- Consent tools: Where we present a cookie banner or preference centre, you can use it to accept or reject non-essential categories as offered.
- Analytics opt-out: For Google Analytics, you can use tools or add-ons provided by Google or your browser vendor to limit measurement.
- Do Not Track: There is no consistent industry standard; we do not respond to all DNT signals in a uniform way but we aim to respect applicable law and transparent choices.
7. Legal bases and Africa-focused compliance
MaiGuard is built for African customers. For visitors in Nigeria and elsewhere, we process information collected via cookies and similar technologies in line with applicable law—including, where relevant, the Nigeria Data Protection Act and guidance from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC)—and we rely on bases such as consent (for non-essential cookies where required), contract (where needed to provide a service you request), or legitimate interests (for example securing the Sites or understanding aggregate usage), balanced against your rights.
If you are in another country, local rules may also apply; see our Privacy Policy and Section 11 (Other jurisdictions) there.
8. Children
The Sites are directed at business audiences and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly use cookies to profile children for marketing.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change our practices, tools, or legal requirements. We will post the updated version on the Sites with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, refresh our consent mechanisms.
